Are You Bored? Here Are Fun Things To Do In Guangzhou!

Are you bored and looking for something fun to do? If so, you’re in luck because there are many fun things to do in Guangzhou right in front of your very eyes! This article will be split into 5 different sections: Nature- related places, restaurants, landmarks, attractions, and museums.

First, let’s start off with nature-related places which will include gardens, parks, etc.

  • Baiyun Mountain is also known to be called Cloud Mountain because of all of the clouds you can see from the mountains. Cloud Mountain also includes beautiful pagodas that are situated on top of the mountains.
  • Yue Xiu Park is well known for the Rams Statue located in the center of the park. Yuexiu Park also includes beautiful scenery and historical sites. If you go to Yuexiu Park, make sure you bring water since there are many hills!
  • Pearl River is known to be 2,400 km long! You might know Pearl River since it’s located right next to Canton Tower and some shopping malls. Pearl River is beautiful at night because of all of the lights reflecting off of the river from the different buildings surrounding the river
  • Baomo Garden offers you a chance to connect with nature with its lush greenery and various wildlife (birds and fish) it offers many opportunities to take beautiful pictures displaying the wonders of Ancient architecture and modern landscaping
  • Yuyin Garden offers many chances for you to take pictures of the greenery and the historical gazebos that were built on top of the lakes surrounding it. By visiting Yuyin garden, it offers you an insight into what a traditional Chinese garden looks like. Here is a fun fact, it was built during the Qing Dynasty!
  • For South China Botanical Garden, not only does this garden have multiple plants but it also has a large lake that reflects the trees surrounding it. If you wish to visit this garden, then you will need to purchase a ticket. Tickets for just the garden is 20RMB and for the garden and greenhouse area it is 50RMB

Next up, we have restaurants! These restaurants are both great if you’re looking to get something quick to eat or have a nice dinner!

  • Chay Hana is known for having delicious BBQ, pizza, and steaks. When eating the BBQ, you taste different spices added into the meat and the smokiness of the meat tastes delicious. The staff is very friendly and when you enter the restaurant you feel like you’re home because of the hospitality.
  • Tiger Prawn offers you an insight into what Vietnamese food truly tastes like. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the food is rated a 5/5 on Trip Advisor. It is recommended that you get there early since tables are taken very quickly!
  • Mi casa offers many delicious Mexican foods such as beef nachos, chimichangas, churros, and of course tacos! Even though cheesy fries aren’t Mexican food, it is still a popular item on the menu. Friday and Saturday nights have the most people so try going on a weeknight if possible. However, the food is worth the wait.
  • Social & Co is one of the more well-known restaurants since it serves delicious western food. They offer Australian, New Zealand, and American cuisines. They have also won ‘best restaurant of Guangzhou. If there is no seating available inside, luckily there are multiple tables situated outside.

Guangzhou has two landmarks that are definitely worth checking out! Here are the landmarks that are highly recommended by people to go to.

  • Canton Tower offers you both beautiful views and fun attractions. Once you reach the top of Canton Tower you can go to an attraction that gives you a 360-degree view of the city and after maybe go on the fun attraction that takes you all the way to the top and then a scary drop!
  • For Guangzhou Opera House, on the outside, you can see the beautiful designs, created by Zaha Hadid, of glass and steel. The Opera house offers you an insight into what a Chinese opera looks like. Inside, there are thousands of seats and the ceiling has many little lights that look like stars. Try going to this opera house and experiencing a Chinese Opera

Who doesn’t like to go to amusement parks and fun attractions? If you like going to amusement parks then here you go!

  • Chimleong safari park is a fun day activity where you can meet different animals such as giraffes, zebras, lions, and many more! There are cable cars you can ride where you can see the animals and the park. If you happen to be there at night time, be sure to stay so you can watch the beautiful light show and go on the night safari adventure.
  • When visiting the Chimleong Bird Park, you’ll be able to take pictures of many birds! There are many different types of birds such as flamingos, peacocks, parrots, and many more! If you start to get hungry don’t worry, there are many restaurants to choose from. If you’re looking for a fun and relaxing day activity, then go to the bird park!
  • For Chimleong Amusement Park, this amusement park makes sure that your day is packed with fun and exciting adventures! Do you like roller coasters? If so, be sure to go on either the 10 Inversion roller coaster and/or Dive Coaster! Tickets cost 200RMB and it opens from 9:00 am-7:00 pm from Saturday to Sunday. From Monday to Friday, it opens from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. Be sure to stick around for the night show
  • If you want to have a fun and cool day with your friends or family go to the water park! The Chimleong Water Park offers many fun slides and attractions for you to go on. Even though some of the slides are really steep and scary, be a risk-taker and go on them. Once you go on the slides, you’ll never want to leave.

Last but not least, did you know that Guangzhou has many museums that offer you to learn more about the Chinese dynasties? Well, now you do know! Here are some of the museums that you might like to go to.

  • For the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall-Folk Art Museum, this museum holds a history of being more than 100 years old. Inside this museum, you will find 19 buildings, nine halls, and six courtyards. Many people lived here, a long time ago, but now it has been turned into a museum for people to be able to learn Chinese history.
  • For the Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Mausoleum of Nanyue, this museum was built for people to be able to learn more about the Western Han Dynasty. Inside this museum, you will find many pieces of history such as special artifacts from villages, the military, the emperor, and many more. If you want to learn more about the Han Dynasty, then visit this museum.
