Artistic License: Lit Mag Returns

• Bookmarks: 281523

AISG has a long-standing history as a creative community. For the past several years the students in the Literary Magazine club received substantial support from our high school student body in the form of creative writing and art submissions, allowing for the production of a high-quality physical copy of Artistic License, our literary magazine, to be presented to everyone at the end of the school year with the yearbook. Despite the effort made by the LitMag staff last year, there were just not enough submissions from students to justify a physical magazine. This came as a disappointment to the staff, as it was the first time in recent AISG history that we did not publish a magazine. Nonetheless, in an attempt to salvage the poems, prose and photographs from those students who did submit work, Artistic License created a digital platform to showcase them (see the link at the bottom of the article).

This year, LitMag is determined to bring back the award-winning magazine and show the world the talented community we have here at AISG—but they cannot do this alone. All those who have a passion for poetry, prose, photography and art: please do not hesitate to submit your work. Tell your friends and your teachers that LitMag needs you to create.

Lit Mag meets on Thursday afternoons in Ms Barga’s room—but you don’t have to be an attending member to submit your work. Contact Eileen Qiu (05qiue@aisgz.org), Punya Bhargava (05bhargavap@aisgz.org), or Ms Barga (jbarga@aisgz.org) for more information.

A selection of last year’s submissions: Artistic License (thanks to Leon Luo for his commitment to the site, even after he left AISG!)
