Avengers: Infinity War

After 10 years of planning and filming, Marvel Studios has released their biggest film yet: Avengers: Infinity War. Now that the film has come out worldwide, its popularity is as strong as ever, with showings sold out weeks in advance. According to CNBC, Infinity War is currently the fastest film to pass the 1 billion dollars checkpoint, holding the record at 11 days. Not surprising considering all the hype it has gotten. But what made the film for me were the characters and the action scenes.

There are many action scenes throughout the film, all of which are stunning in their own right. If you disliked the shaky cameras in Captain America: Civil War, don’t worry, the Russo brothers did a much better job filming them in this film. Each character had their unique fighting style that was explored in detail in the film, such as the magic used by Doctor Strange which are visual spectacles, Iron Man’s diverse arsenal thanks to his new armor, Rocket and Winter Soldier’s test of firearms, Captain America and Black Panther’s Brawler style, and much more, all choreographed accordingly to make each scene stand out and brings out the uniqueness of each character.

Speaking of, the characters in the film are written fairly close to their previous appearances, and Thanos as the villain of this film hits it out of the park. He is leagues above previous MCU villains in both writing and threat level. Thanos wished to murder half of all sentient life in the universe in order to prevent life from killing itself due to over-consumption of finite resources. The intention of Thanos is good, he wanted life to be better for everyone and the universe to not die because of overexploitation, thus making him an actually relatable character when considering the fact that we do live in a world with limited resources, even if his method of trying to achieve this goal was not as well realized. Aside from finally seeing Thanos in the front rows, it was a pleasure to see returning characters including the Avengers, Spiderman, and the Guardians of the Galaxy interact with each other. The chemistry between Ironman and Doctor Strange, the Might of a God that inspired others, and the teamwork between characters are all beautiful moments in the film.

Overall, the film kept me on the edge of my seat through its entire runtime and left me wanting for more as it ended. Although looking back on the story there are many plot-holes Infinity War is still my favorite film of the year so far. Highly recommend and the people who have not watched this film yet might just not be a part of the humans Thanos left alive on Earth.
