Beerbongs and Bentleys

Post Malone’s new album, Beerbongs and Bentleys, was released on April 27, 2018, and is on course to break the record for the highest streaming week for an album ever. Despite the fact that it was released around a week ago, the song with the least clicks on Spotify was “Jonestown” with nearly 10 million plays. The song with the most clicks is “rockstar” and even though it was released in September it has nearly 1 billion listens on Spotify alone. When combining every song played on the album, it adds up to around 1.9 billion.

On Today’s Top Hits (a playlist on Spotify containing the most played songs worldwide daily) three of Post Malone’s songs are featured, with “Better Now” at the top of the list. With this song being the most played new release on the album with over 60 million plays, Post Malone set a new record for the most streams in a week and established the best-selling week of 2018 for now.

There are many opposing opinions on Post Malone’s new album and many members of AISG’s community  seem to be disappointed with the new album and Brandon L says that it’s “pretty trash” and that “the old Post Malone was good” and dislikes the “new” one even though his albums are just over a year apart. Lisa M however, admits the fact that she likes the song “Paranoid” and Sangyoon K likes a few of his songs as well and his pal Richard A thinks that he “produces good and quality music”, with regards to “Better Now”. Freshman, David S says that “‘Stay’ is my favorite out of the album and its miles better than 90% of songs out there”, so he clearly has some mixed opinions about Post Malone’s music.

Even though AISG doesn’t seem too hyped up about Post Malone’s new album, it is a worldwide phenomenon already that has already passed Drake’s record as well as The Beatle’s “unbeatable” record from 1964. Ever since his first album in 2016, being such a success and this album following, it doesn’t look like many things can go poorly for him any time soon.
