On Wednesday, April 13, 2016, our boy’s soccer team headed to South Korea for this year’s Asia division APAC soccer hosted by Seoul Foreign School. Fortunate for them, the temperature was not too hot and it only rained on Saturday.
I asked current eleventh grader Ibrahim Bah what his overall impressions of APAC were since this was his first APAC experience and he said, “I felt intimidated when I saw the other teams because their players were a lot bigger and taller than us. But, I think we did way better than we thought we were going to do. The team had been working towards APAC all season, and so we were finally able to put all of our hard work into play.”
The team had a range of players from grades nine through twelve; however, Pierce Jullian was the only freshman who went to APAC, so I interviewed him to see how he felt about it and he said his favorite moment of APAC was “when the whistle blew ending the game that [they] won against Concordia.” The AISG student body was also happy with their win as many students watched the live stream of the games.
Our boys went out and played tough against big competitors, and although they placed 6 at APAC, the team improved greatly from past years and won a game.
