On November 12, 2019, Disney’s new streaming network, Disney+, started streaming a new spin-off TV series based on the Star Wars franchise called The Mandalorian.
In the TV show, the main protagonist is a bounty hunter named Mando. He is based off the character Boba Fett, the green bounty hunter in the original trilogy. The Mandalorian or Mando is one of the members of a group of “super commandos,” who often work as mercenaries or bounty hunters and call themselves The Mandalorians. The Mandalorian group is a fictional group created by George Lucas due to the multiple fans dressing up in different versions of Boba Fett with a similar style of armor.
In the first episode, it shows Mando executing multiple bounty catches and brings them to his “rewarder.” Then, he is offered a job with a large reward. With his expertise, he finds that the catch would be easy. When he gets to the planet the bounty is on, the harder the task becomes. He has to tame and ride a wild alien/dinosaur and fight a number of guards that are separating him and the bounty. Once he kills them all, he finds that the bounty is a child. This specific child has not only enlightened Mando’s heart, but it has also enlightened almost every watcher that has seen him. This child, of course, is Baby Yoda.
The Baby Yoda character has gotten a lot of attention from people all around the globe. A large tsunami of Baby Yoda memes and theories has flooded the internet over the past few weeks. We already had enough laughter and smiles from Yoda himself, but Disney decided that we need more love from a baby version of Yoda instead.
Junior Tyler K. has been following the series so far, and he stated that “The Baby Yoda memes are hilarious, but the action scenes are way better.” He also added that the episodes have seemed a bit slow lately due to the lack of action and suspense.
Personally, I also find that recent episodes have lost their element of being unpredictable. I remember watching the first episode and feeling astonished when Baby Yoda first appeared. After a while, you can almost predict the plot of the episode in the context of the previous episodes. The Baby Yoda memes, on the other hand, continue to have a feeling of warmth and happiness every time I see a good joke along with it.
