In his signature yellow-and-black zig-zag t-shirt, Charlie Brown prepares to take the stage at AISG’s theater this fall. The auditions will be this Thursday afternoon and next Tuesday afternoon (23 and 28 of August), where MS Art and HS Graphic Design and Film teacher Mr. Boyd will be casting the roles for the musical “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
The original Broadway premiere took place in June 1971, hosting 32 performances at the John Golden Theatre. AISG’s newest production “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” will take place on November 29 and 30.
Adapted from Charles Schultz’s American comic strip Peanuts, composer/lyricist Clark Gesner created a classic musical about the ups and downs in the life of Charlie Brown and his friends. From exciting plotlines such as Snoopy flying against the Red Baron to hopeless love stories between Charlie Brown and the Little Red-Haired Girl, “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” appeals to audiences of all ages and interests.
“The musical is for everybody,” says Mr. Boyd, head of the production. “Last year, we lost a lot of people that were veterans to our musical department. But this is a new year— a new year to find new talent.”
If you are searching for something new and something different, the witty yet thought-provoking musical might just be the thing for you.
