The semester is nearly over which means Christmas and exams are just around the corner. At school, we celebrate the joyous arrival of Christmas and the ending of the first semester by taking part in different activities. StuCo has kept its tradition of having the annual tree decorating contest between the four high school grades. Another activity done by AISG is the breakfast potluck. The potluck was held on Wednesday, December 7. Students were encouraged to wear their pyjamas on that day.
Gwen Farm, president of the Grade 11 Student Council, explained what they planned. She said, “We set up the two trees in each of the lounges with the decorations in boxes.” The Grade 9 and Grade 10 trees are placed in the lounge outside the high school office and the Grade 11 and Grade 12 trees are placed at the opposite lounge. Farm said that the trees will be judged by Mr. Tragert, Mr. Timmerman and Ms. Lindsay and the grade prize will include baked goods.
The other event StuCo organized was the breakfast potluck that was held in the high school lounges. This potluck also serves as a time to say farewell to any students who are leaving AISG permanently. Some students were in charge of bringing food for the breakfast. Like always, StuCo provided hot chocolate and marshmallows.
For the past years, these events have been done and it has become something that students look forward to each year. The semester is closing in and winter break is right around the corner, but let’s not forget about exams. These events planned by StuCo are meant to help students take their minds off of the stress that comes with studying for exams.
