coke1930d_initialDecember 6th 2015, Coca Cola distributed an ad with young white people bringing soda to remote villages and building wooden Christmas tree in town square. This advertisement received comments stating that this ad is promoting “colonialism rather than unity.”

“It is a comment on our type of life and an attempt to put a culture of consumerism in its place,” Elvis Pablo said in a press event critiquing the ad as a public act of discrimination and racism. The Coca Cola ad has been slammed on the social media after 1 week of promotion and Coca Cola company has decided to pull it on Tuesday. However, different versions of ad can still be found online, such as one titled “The ‘White Savior’ Coca Cola Ad Made Private.”

Coca Cola spokesperson said to a food news site Eater “Our intention was never to be insensitive to or underestimate any indigenous group. We have now removed the video and apologize to anyone who may have been offended.”
