Every once in a while, AISG holds a college visit session. All high school students go to a designated area in the school and they are able to talk to and ask questions about university to specific college representatives.
Michelle Z, a senior, said that “When [she] was a sophomore, [she] started paying attention to what these colleges had to say about college and the process of applying to college. Because of these little things that [she] picked up from the college visits, choosing and applying to colleges has been a relatively smooth process for [her]. [She] really like the college visits and I think that it should be mandatory for all high school students to attend.”
Elom K, a former AISG student, says that “When I was at AISG I just showed up and stood there” and barely listened to people talk. However, now that he has left and moved to another school, “[he] really [misses] the opportunity to learn about colleges and the application process instead of going in blind.” He thinks that the “college visits would’ve helped tremendously.”
Evan T, a freshman, likes how “AISG has college visits that are extremely helpful.” He says that “even though [he] is a freshman, the college visits allows [him] to get a head start and learn about colleges before many other freshmen in other schools.”
This past Friday, there was a college visit at AISG that featured many popular schools such as the University of Virginia, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, George Washington University, and Boston University.
It seems as though the AISG community really likes the college visits that are held at school, however a common complaint that was brought to light was that “the college visit should have more popular schools,” but it seems that with the most recent college visit, the school is indeed trying to get more well-known schools to come.
