Come to GIN’s Trivia Night!

• Bookmarks: 271110

GIN is hosting their Fourth Annual Trivia Night on Friday, January 19. It takes place at the Ersha campus and is from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Tickets are at 100 kuai each, with all funding going to donation.

Trivia Night allows for teachers and students to interact with each other as they compete in a teams of quiz questions and activities. Trivia Night has different styles of questions, which often involve those including images, audio, or simple read-and-answers. Questions also vary in periods of time, so some questions can only be answered by either students or teachers. The emcee for this year’s trivia night is Mr. Boulton.

Although 100 kuai might sound like a costly price for an event, Sabrina C., the coordinator of GIN, argues that this is a “fairly reasonable price for events alike this one.” She says, “The participation fee will include dinner, snacks, and transportation home. Any residuals made will be used towards scholarships for underprivileged girls in Shaoguan whom GIN sponsor. Considering the potential prices of dinner and transportation, which will cover the majority of the participation fee, there is actually not a lot that GIN will gain in profit. All this is for a good cause, GIN is a non-profit organization.”

Sabrina said, “Some may find it bizarre that one would want to participate in an event where students and teachers will be put into the same group, I thought that same in the beginning.” However, this gave them an opportunity to bond and get to know more about each other outside of an academic scenario. She added, “Following the event, I was more than glad that I had decided to participate. We got to joke around and make conversations with each other.”

Sign-ups are due by January 16. You can sign up here individually with a group of 2-3 people, but only one person should take the survey. Tickets are 100 RMB each. Transportation from Science Park to Ersha is provided, and so are busses to Tianhe and Zhujiang. All funding from the tickets goes to sponsor underprivileged girls in ShaoGuan.

See you there!
