Crossroad trip

On May 18th, our AISG community service group Crossroad went to Huaiji (怀集), a place with a very small population located in the western Guangdong province. Crossroad people collected unwanted Chinese books from Science Park and donated them to underdeveloped schools in the local province. Crossroad’s amiability and tenderness to help others ended as being successful with their sincereness. The people in Crossroad used the money that they collected from various events to buy 350 pieces of stationery for students in Huaiji.

Agnes Lau, the coordinator of this community service group, thought the trip was extremely meaningful. She said, “The purpose of this trip was to understand the difficulties local school students in Huaiji face, and that we can actually help others with unused and unwanted items”. She even claimed she felt personally connected with the charity work. Agnes thought the most memorable part of this trip was when people were crowded by her to see what they brought for the school. This heartwarming event and the smiles on people at Huaiji really meant a lot to Crossroad.
