Chinese New Year passed about 2 weeks ago. Most of the AISG community has enjoyed the time away from school. Although it is just vacation for most of us, traditionally, it is a time for families to come together. When I asked other students on their perspectives of Chinese New Year and what it meant to them, I received many different responses.
Some students, such as Luca Da Costa, think that Chinese New Year is a special time. “It allows me to become a better person, as I can take the chance to set new goals for myself.” Other students such as Robbie H. spent the time with his family, as “Chinese New Year is a time to spend some days with my loved ones.” He also thinks that CNY shows a completion of a happy year and the continuance of that happiness. Tiffany C. also spent Chinese New Year with her family and used the time to “get up to speed” with her relatives.
Other students such as Louie A, went on vacation and did not spend time with his relatives. He said that it was because “Chinese New Year is a time for me to relax and take away stress from school.” Overall, Chinese New Year means different things for all of us, but essentially it is a time to take away stress and spend time with loved ones.
