If You’re Not Wearing It, Why Aren’t You Sharing It?

“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

Fellow Rams, Crossroads needs your help! Crossroads is a community service group that believes in material circulation – collecting people’s unwanted items and shipping them to those that are less fortunate. Paraash Manwani, coordinator of Crossroads, said, “instead of donating money, we donate supplies and materials because in a situation like an earthquake, money is less fortunate for them if there aren’t any resources even available to buy there.”

Crossroads is holding a “Clothes Drive” throughout the month of October. Students can donate unwanted clothes to Ms. Ting’s room 308. The clothes for this particular clothes drive will be sent to Tibet and Henan for 33 orphans who live in “Home of Hope”. Ben and Michelle Godard, the founders of “Home of Hope”, came to China on a service mission 10 years ago and decided to set up a home for orphans and provide education for them through home schooling. Right now, they are in need of warm clothes and sport shoes for boys between the ages of 4-16. Eric Huang, the co-coordinator of Crossroads says, “we strongly encourage AISG students to donate their unwanted clothes because there are lots of kids at Home of Hope who don’t have enough clothes to survive the winters. Even though this may sound exaggerated, by donating clothes, we can save a lot of kids from freezing to death during the winters, so ultimately, we are saving lives.”
