The annual fun run – held in our very own Science Park mountain – was spectacular for our Cross Country team, as the top 10 runners in the run were all from AISG. None of the other three schools, namely QSI, SIS, and CIS, broke into the top 10 for the boys, showing the dominance that AISG has over other schools in the Guangdong province. The AISG girls’ team also displayed an excellent showing as they filled the spots for the top 6 runners of the race.
The top 3 runners from the boys’ race were Peter Lee (3rd place), Ibrahim Bah (2nd place), and Christopher Renfrow (1st place). Christopher Renfrow placed first in the race last year as well, adding on to his tally of medals. Peter Lee did not run the previous year, and Ibrahim Bah almost placed 3rd place last year, being edged out in the final parts of the run. This year, he came back more determined than ever and placed two places higher than last year. Ibrahim Bah explained how the fun run was great preparation for APAC by saying that, “the fun run helped me get ready mentally for APAC ,and our retreats and constant team building activities drive us and amp up our motivation to do well for our school.”
The winners of the girl’s race were Leah Lee (3rd place), Leyla Sepahi (2nd place), and Nina Sepahi (1st place). Nina Sepahi came 2nd last year, so winning the race this year was both a tremendous improvement and achievement. All 6 of the female APAC runners participated in the race and made the Ram community proud because, even though it was a tough competition for the runners, they still filled the top 6 runners. Nina Sepahi, the captain of the AISG Cross Country team and the team’s fastest female runner, said that “it was an amazing run for both the boy and girl runners and we hope to carry our confidence from this race into the APAC tournament this year.”
