After building up the hype for about 6 months, Black Ops 3 was finally released on November 6th, 2015. Being a part of one the most popular gaming series in gaming history, BO3 released with very high expectations. The long wait of 3 years that fans had to endure made it the most anticipated game of 2015. However, the game being able to live up to the hype is another question.
With immense graphical changes, BO3 is a big improvement from BO2 technically. The gameplay is smooth, and shooting feels accurate and not as clunky as it’s predecessor. The option to be able to boost around the map gives players a competitive edge and a smoother flow to the game, and these new features sets it apart from BO2. The ability to run around on walls increases the already high mobility and makes it fun to go around the map. The larger range of weapons and the wider customisation options can give players a personalised touch to the game, and the new weapons have been engineered sharply. The addition of new maps of various sizes add to the excitement of the game, as the maps are designed in a way that complements the gameplay. There are a mixture of landscapes, hectic clash points and diverse elevations in the arenas to play on.
Although the multiplayer mode of BO3 is one of the best in the series, the campaign mode leaves something to be wished for. The missions are repetitive, as it feels like a chain of missions that revolve around the theme of point and shoot. Although new technological features in weapons and abilities are present, there are not many missions that are memorable, as they all seem similar in style.
Despite the campaign being quite mediocre, BO3 is still an excellent game in it’s multiplayer aspects. It is also a more multiplayer focused game, so the lagging campaign mode does not make a huge impact on the quality of the game. BO3 is a great game that excels technically and continues the Call of Duty legacy, and I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking to have a fun time.
