On Tuesday, December 8th, the British School of Guangzhou, Utahloy International School, and AISG competed in the second GISAC swim meet of the season. GISAC, the Guangzhou International School Athletic Conference, is an athletic conference that was started at the beginning of this school year, creating a new opportunity for competition between local international schools.
Both the middle and high school teams were involved in this swim meet, and both teams excelled. Hannah Eng (11) won the girls 200 meter IM and the girls 100 meter freestyle, Tony Hess (9) won the boys 200 meter IM, Emma Rigassio (10) won the girls 100 meter butterfly, Lynn Maekawa (11) won the girls 100 meter backstroke, Kimy Ka (10) won the girls 50 meter breaststroke, Javin Liu (9) won the boys 50 meter breaststroke and the boys 50 meter butterfly, Sophie Elliott (9) won the girls 50 meter freestyle, and the AISG1 girls relay team with members Hannah Eng (11), Sophie Elliott (9), Macy O’Hara (8), and Emma Rigassio (10), won the 200 meter girls freestyle relay.

The middle school swim team
This year, the swim program was extended to the middle school. They practiced with the high schoolers until December 8th, when the GISAC swim meet marked the end of their short season.
Fortunately for the high school team, one month remains until they travel to the Hong Kong International School for their APAC competition. Although the team will be facing some fierce competitors, the fact that they keep their spirits up is as good a motive to win as any.
