Pep rallies are efficient and important to school culture. Every APAC, AISG represents its sports teams well during its pep rallies. However, do people at our school consider pep rallies important?
In the most recent pep rally, our GenCo representative, Eddie K., was pumped up and kick started the event. Tony H., a junior at AISG, claims that he believes “pep rallies are a great way to promote our school’s sports and fine arts teams.” Boon Yang K., another junior, adds to say, “However, the students attending aren’t as active and engaged, but Eddie really set the bench mark with his motivating opening speech.” At AISG, pep rallies begin with a speech and moves on to introductory videos to each of the APAC teams. This keeps the audience interested and engaged. Then, there are the practice games that the teams (basketball, volleyball, badminton) play as well while engaging in audience involvement. AISG also has a cheer team, the Pep Squad, that performs their routine. In the recent pep rally, AISG had a surprise dance performance by the APAC dance team, exciting the audience and enlightening the atmosphere. The new addition was a delight for all students and teachers as junior Tanya Khanna says, “It was a surprise as it had never been done before and it’s now something new to look forward to at our next pep rally.”
Pep rallies are important at our school, as it is a time for our grades to come together and celebrate the effort of our teams and show our team spirit.
