While Guangzhou (and Hong Kong) is not exactly a hotspot for shows and concerts, the rest of 2016 does contain some interesting entertainment for those of you who have some free time on your weekends.

Pentatonix, (Sep 22, HK): Ever wonder what an actual Accapella group sounds like live? Pentatonix will provide all Pitch Perfect fans a taste of sans-instrument music this September by delivering a 90-minute performance. Bursting onto the music scene in 2011, Pentatonix has since then won two Grammy awards, racked up over 10.5 million views on Youtube, and sold out multiple venues – including Hong Kong, if you do not act fast.

Earth Wind & Fire (Sep 24, HK): With 20 Grammy nominations + 8 Grammy awards, 12 American Music Awards nominations + 4 AMA awards, there is no surprise that Earth, Wind & Fire is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time. Their songs span across the music genre spectrum, covering R&B, soul, funk, jazz, disco, pop, rock, Latin, and African. If you decide to attend, prepare for an experience of a lifetime.

Blue Man Group (Oct 14-16, GZ): Blue Man Group will provide you with a unique theatrical experience. Known for their bizarre blue bald heads, they gained fame from performing at the Astor Place Theatre, which caught the attention of the U.S. public. While not the most “conventional” concert experience, this is definitely for those who want an incredible sensory escapade.

Clockenflap (Nov 25-27, HK): Hong Kong’s very own annual music returns this year with impressive acts, including LCD sound system and Foals. It will be hard to top last year’s line-up, which boasted artists such as A$AP Rocky, Neon Indian, Flying Lotus, New Order, and Blackalicious. The full line-up will be released on Facebook, so if you are into good music and good food, be sure to keep an eye out for news if you are interested in this 3-Day art-fest because tickets go fast.

Wicked (Dec 8 – Jan 1 2017, HK): Dorothy is definitely not in Kansas anymore – she is coming to Hong Kong and bringing the gang with her, including the Wicked Witch of the West. It is one of Broadway’s most successful shows of all time, continuing to enchant the audience with our favourite green antagonist, Elphaba. To catch this show, more information is provided in the links below.
