AISG is officially turning 35, and the celebrations are already in motion. The creative talents of AISG students were on full display when the Development and Communications Office, in cooperation with AISG art teachers, organized an Art Exhibit featuring student artwork. As the proud students, smiling parents, friends and relatives enjoyed the exhibition, the art spoke volumes about how AISG students not only excel in academics and sports, but also in art.
The success of the art exhibition created excitement for the next upcoming celebration – The 35th anniversary gala on May 13th. AISG has never hosted such a large event before, and many look forward to the free-flow drinks, six-course dinner, music, and entertainment. Some of the prizes include round trip tickets, suites, spa tickets, and brunch tickets at various hotels like The Crowne Plaza, Four Seasons and The Garden Hotel.
As an international community, guests will be able to savor the flavors of various different countries. Staying on the topic of the delectable food and refreshments, the key speaker at the gala is Martin Yan from Yan Can Cook, a chef and food writer who hosts the award-winning PBS TV cooking show Yan Can Cook. Guests can look forward to an interactive and intriguing speech along with a demonstration for the parents. The gala will go from six o’clock to midnight. To further showcase the talent that exists in the AISG student community, all the performances will be by students. For instance, guests will be able to hear the wondrous voices of the elementary school choir.
Zoe Timms, Director of Development and Communication, said, “We’re pretty excited about it…We’re hoping to support the new vision statements.” She continued to explain that the proceeds of the gala go directly towards supporting the new mission and vision statements – dynamic, compassionate and connected learning. Dynamic learning includes technology innovations and curriculum enhancements, compassionate learning consists of community service, and connected learning comprises of relationships with local and global communities, like mentorship and school spirit.
“Once a ram, always a ram” is a belief among the AISG community, and AISG is celebrating alumni by calling for nominations for the alumni award presented during the gala. They are also hosting an alumni reunion brunch the Sunday after the gala.
When asked how the planning is so far, Ms. Timms mentioned that fifty tables have been set up, and a lot of people in the AISG community have already purchased tickets. The planning of such a large event could not be so smooth without the help of parent volunteers who are helping with the sponsorship, music, performances, decorations, and alumni events.
With three weeks left to go, there has been much enthusiasm surrounding this event, including conversations about dresses and tickets. The 35th Anniversary Gala is sure to be an extraordinary event.
