Hoopin It Up: GISAC Tournament Preview

This Friday and Saturday (January 13, 14) is the annual GISAC basketball tournament that the basketball teams will be competing in.

The tournament starts on Friday morning and will end on Saturday afternoon or early evening. There will be six different teams representing their respective international schools. The teams are as follows: Utahloy International School (Guangzhou), Utahloy International School (Zhencheng), International School of Dongguan, Clifford International School, The British School, and of course your AISG Rams.

So far, both the Boys’ and Girls’ teams have done very well this season, especially in GISAC league games. Both the boys and girls are off to an undefeated start in GISAC league play, which means they are both the regular season champions. With only a few more league games left, the teams are looking to stay undefeated and become both the regular season and tournament champions of the GISAC basketball league.

Senior Captain Ryan Chiang of the boys’ basketball team says a key to the success this season has been the improvements in team communication, as this helps the ball flow much better in offense and defense, which allows the team to move like one unity. Chiang also said he expects to win the championship by a comfortable margin. Hopefully, this will turn out to be true for both the girls and boys.
