How Long could Arrow Last?

I’m sure many of you have heard of the tv show Arrow. The series created by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg is based on the comic character Green Arrow. This show follows a spoiled billionaire, Oliver Queen, who is presumed dead when his yacht goes missing. He returns five years later after being found on a mysterious island, Lian Yu. Queen is a changed man and is driven by his goal to make his city better as a hooded vigilante with a bow and arrow.

Arrow is currently midway through its seventh season and many believe this could be the last season as it’s very repetitive. Many long lasting tv shows tend to run out of storylines and actors move onto new projects. Although Arrow’s ratings have declined over time, it still has many fans that are hooked on it. Arrow is known for its flashbacks, where they show short moments of Oliver’s time on Lian Yu. They have reached the end of the five-year flashbacks and have now started to use flash-forwards, which is leading for many fans to be in doubt about the series continuing.

Stephen Amell, the actor that plays Oliver Queen responded “No, I don’t think so” when asked if season seven was the last of the series. Amell stated, “I’m signed on beyond this year. When you get up to these stages, you tend to go year by year, but I have a contract for another season of Arrow.” He went on to talk about how it depends it comes down to the producers and actors, but he’s here for another season. Many believe that Arrow has left a legacy with Arrowverse, a fictional universe that is centered on various tv shows on CW (Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow). The ending of the show is not the end for the characters, as actors involved in the arrow make common appearances on other Arrowverse shows.

According to Sean P, “although Arrow was previously more intense and entertaining, I still believe it’s possible for it to last a few more seasons.” Many believe that season seven or eight will realistically be the end, however, it’s possible that it can continue for longer. The flash-forwards could be an important factor in the series’ continuation. I am skeptical about it as I have not found these flash-forwards as entertaining as the flashbacks.
