On November 29 and 30, the high school theater department put on the musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. The musical, which originally ran off-Broadway in 1967 and ran on-Broadway in 1999, follows the Peanuts characters Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Sally, and Snoopy as they go about their day-to-day lives, and Charlie Brown tries to figure out what it means to be a good man.

Many people who saw the musical enjoyed it immensely. The musical was hilarious yet wholesome, and all of the actors onstage performed wonderfully. One of the highlights of the show was watching Maya T. act as Snoopy, Charlie Brown’s lovable beagle. Another highlight was Selina Y.’s portrayal of Lucy Van Pelt, Charlie Brown’s crabbiest friend. The cast members were amazing, and they all managed to make the audience laugh.

Richard Z, who played the lead role, said that he was “glad the final performances turned out great.” Stage manager Sophia L. said that the small cast made it “a bit more challenging but worth it.” Jenny L, who played Sally, Charlie Brown’s younger sister, said that “the cast and crew and even the directors worked very hard to put on the show,” and that she is glad it went well. Selina Y. said that she hopes “everyone enjoyed watching the show as much as [the cast] enjoyed creating it.” Maya added that she is “so grateful to everyone who made the show possible,” including the directors Mr. Boyd, Ms. Lin, and Mr. Taylor.

The music was fun to listen to, with peppy, upbeat songs and cute dance numbers. The cast sang beautifully and clearly put a great deal of effort into their performances. Their singing was accompanied by the pit band, who entertained the audience with their music. Of course, the crew also worked incredibly hard to make sure the lights and sound were perfect.

Overall, the musical was an enjoyable experience with wonderful performances from everyone involved, from the cast to the crew to the pit band. It’s safe to say that You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown was a huge hit.
