HS Students To Be Given Access To Gradebooks

• Bookmarks: 562861

High School students received an email from Ms. Smith earlier this month, informing them of the soon-to-be available grade books. Beginning Friday, February 26, all AISG High School students can log in to Aspen anywhere, and check their grades in all of their courses. Grades will take the form of “snapshots”, showing a list of assignments and their corresponding grades.

AISG decided to implement this policy in the hopes of “improving communication and making information more easily available to students”, according to the email. The improved dialogue between the students, parents, and teachers will help us all as students to progress and improve our grades. This “open gradebook” change has already been tested for MS students in November.

Sneak peek of a gradebook “snapshot”, from Mr.Bauer. Note that unlike progress reports, the final grade and AtLs aren’t shown.

AISG plans to provide at least 2 snapshots this semester, with no changes to the usual progress reports. After the semester “trial run”, snapshots will be sent regularly (presumably every few weeks), and will be accessible to parents as well. Like mentioned earlier, this is intended to increase dialogue, and parental engagement in our learning.

Starting Friday, remember to log into Aspen using your network ID, i.e. 10smitht
