New to AISG this year, Kaisa F. is a junior high school student who transferred from Oslo, Norway. Kaisa believes her friends would describe her as “funny, easygoing, and caring”.

Having lived in Oslo her whole life, Kaisa mentioned she initially felt anxious to move to a country so far and so different from what she’s used to. One of the most notable differences Kaisa experienced was the extremely hot and humid weather in Guangzhou. “It never gets that kind of hot in Norway, even in the summer.”

Since starting to attend AISG, Kaisa has joined the tennis team, Habitat for Humanity, Business Club, Yoga, and Migrant Link. She likes to spend her free time hanging out with friends and playing tennis outside of school. Her favourite thing to do is baking, and often does so with her friends.

When asked what she is looking forward to, Kaisa replied with “Going back to Norway to visit my dad who I haven’t seen in almost a year. I also really miss my friends and my blind dog.”

Kaisa mentioned that Malaga, Spain is her favourite place in the world. She said “The weather, beach, and people there are all so amazing.” She definitely wants to go back and visit one day, and she’s even thinking about studying in Spain for a semester in college. Speaking of college, Kaisa plans on studying business in Norway after she graduates from high school.

An interesting fact about Kaisa is that she has a phobia of buttons—she finds them repulsive and cannot touch them. “It started when I was a little kid. Every time my mom would put clothes with buttons on me, I would freak out. It’s the reason why I don’t own any clothing with buttons anymore.”
