Keshi Announces his First Full Album Debut

After months of anticipation, Vietnamese-American singer keshi revealed that he will be dropping his first-ever album, Gabriel. Gabriel will be released on March 25 2022.

Gabriel is expected to have a total of 12 songs. Before the full release of his album, keshi leaked some the songs on YouTube live, TikTok and Instagram around early January.  The four leaked songs from the album are: SOMEBODY, TOUCH, GET IT and War With Heaven.

The singer-songwriter already has a big streaming audience with his dreamy mix of guitar-laced pop and lo-fi hip-hop, but his new album appears to have a slightly different style.

“Some people may not like his new sound and music but I enjoy his new sounds and music. His recent music transformed to a more rap/ hip-hop rather than his old lo-fi stuff on Soundcloud” said Ross V., a freshman in AISG.

His recently released songs exude a more hip-hop vibe and dynamic instrumentals than his previous works, hinting at a new direction for the musician. He’s experimented and played with with new genres with each new song, and while still blending them with his lo-fi sounds to create something chillingly beautiful and uniquely his own.

One of the leaked songs— War With Heaven— was made for Marvel’s movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. In the song, keshi uses going to war as a metaphor for fighting for a relationship with his lover; he is constantly striving to be closer than they were previously.
