It took 10 years of waiting for a sequel to finally be released, but at last Mamma Mia 2 is finally in theatres. With an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Mamma Mia 2 has become one of the many summer favorites. Written and directed by Ol Parker, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is a prequel to Mamma Mia! The plot of the film flashes back 30 years ago to when Donna, the main character played originally by Meryl Streep, had a summer fling with three eligible bachelors. In the original movie, the bachelors were played by Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard, and Colin Firth. In the newly released film, we get to see their young summer romance with Donna when they were sweet, young, and not much older than 17. The young Donna Sheridan is now played by Lily James. The movie was released in China on August 3rd, 2018. Go check it out, if you have a chance.
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Personally, I haven’t watched the movie yet, but senior Megan H., who’s watched the movie over 3 times in theatres, said “I loved it. It made me happy, it made me cry, and it was funny. It was everything I expected it to be and more.”
Joe Morgenstern, a Wallstreet Journal critic, comments that “There’s a wellspring of genuine feeling in this time-hopping sequel, framed as an origin story.”
For those of you looking for a fun romantic comedy or are fans of the first movie, consider watching Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
