Meet the Face Behind Riverdale

• Bookmarks: 391187

Many people know the names Cole Spouse and Lili Reinhart from the infamous series Riverdale, but behind the scenes is a producer and creator that receives minimal credit for his incredible work. American playwright, screenwriter, comic book writer, and producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has contributed his talent to multiple Hollywood blockbusters. The list is endless, including the Marvel Comics, Archie Comics, television series Glee, Big Love, Riverdale, Supergirl, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. What viewers tend to forget when watching a movie or series are the hours people invest into time and effort-consuming jobs such as writing the script, preparing the crew, directing the cast, and perfecting every scene. With tv show stars becoming the icons of the age and the cover faces of Vogue, is it fair that the creators behind every beloved film entertainment are still almost invisible?

Being the leading producer of Riverdale, a show based on the fascinating adventures in Archie Comics, Aguirre-Sacasa has painted a modern teen thriller with twists and turns at every corner. Among the many creators of movies and television shows, only a few iconic names—such as Stan Lee for Marvel—are known by fans. Despite being less recognized, Aguirre-Sacasa has always been leading the entire crew towards creating an edge-of-your-seat episode for the audience, while the cast of Riverdale often feature him in their social medias to highlight his perseverance and passion.

In many interviews before the third season was released, the four main stars (Cole Spouse, Lili Reinhart, KJ Apa, and Camila Mendes) would often mention Riverdale’s screenwriters hard at work, led by show runner Aguirre-Sacasa who incorporates new ideas into every season. The cast has also talked about his neat attention to detail, and his ability to make something brief and small into a significant chunk of the conflict.

As a creator, Aguirre-Sacasa’s main job is writing the upcoming episodes of his current shows, the third season of Riverdale and the second season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The development of the storyline depends on the ideas in his head, which gives him one of the most important roles in these shows. Without creators, it is evident that the beloved shows we watch today wouldn’t exist, and the interesting and compelling casts that we trail on Instagram and Twitter would still remain unknown.
