Meet Your New Executive Officers!

During the final week of April, students and teachers were sent an email introducing us to the candidates who were running for the Executive Council. There were a total of nine candidates, so there was no doubt that this year’s Executive Council elections were very competitive. However, four candidates stood out to the majority of the student body and teachers.

Here are the newly elected Executive Council members:

Executive President: Andy Han

Andy H., who will be a senior in the next school year, stated that one thing that makes him stand out is how he doesn’t procrastinate when given a job to work on. He understands “that this president position is not an easy job, therefore, [he] will make sure to put StuCo related jobs as [his] number one priority.” His goal as president “is to always raise school spirit and the participation rate in our school.” To do this, he hopes to make changes to some of our events in the 2020-2021 school year, since it could make more people interested in our StuCo events.

Executive Vice President: Sabrina Chu

Sabrina C. believes that an important strength that she brings to next year’s ExCo team is experience. With her experience of ExCo responsibilities, it will help avoid old mistakes and work more efficiently in this upcoming year, especially with lots of feedback from the student body and teachers. She has high hopes for next year as they will integrate new ideas and energy to the school community while continuing the good parts of what StuCo has done in the past. As for her personal goals, she will “practice getting things planned and completed in advance.” Next year, she also hopes that “ExCo and StuCo can step up to bring our many different community service groups, teams, and performers together, through social media and joined events.”

Executive Secretary: Gwynnie Guo

Gwynnie G. believes that she has “a strong work ethic to compliment the work done in ExCo and student council.”Along with her “persistence and interest in creating the best environment,” it can help bring out the enthusiasm in people in our school community. With that in mind, this will “help extend spirit and positivity throughout the entire school community.” Since ExCo is “planning to collaborate with the athletic council, and hopefully more groups,” future StuCo events will likely generate even more excitement and participation from the school community.

Executive Treasurer: Alex Kim

Lastly, Alex K.’s strength is that he always tries “to be responsible and diligent, even in difficult times.” His goal in the Executive team is to “make the school a better place,” as this will also allow him to improve on his “interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a group of people.” Similar to the other officers, Alex K. will “focus on improving school spirit within our student body.”

It is evident that the Executive Council Team is well prepared and has high hopes for the next school year. Can’t wait to see what awaits for AISG in the upcoming year!
