New Year New Me

“New Year New Me” is a line people use on the first day of every year and forget about on the second. People either love this line or hate it. However, it never hurts to make some New Year’s Resolutions that we can forget about in a month. I mean, I don’t know about you guys, but my New Year’s Resolutions are always forgotten (literally) by the middle of February. That’s why this year, I have chosen to drink more water. This is a mind trick on me and by following this resolution, I will stay hydrated and I will get healthier. It is honestly the simplest resolution but it makes me feel better about myself… so we’re keeping it!

Other people are going a different way, and making their resolution pretty hard for themselves. For example, Ms. Barga’s resolution is to refuse to eat refined sugars and carbohydrates. So far, she says “it’s going well” but knows that “these things take time.” However, this is something that I would never even consider to do or think about for a single solitary second because junk food is the greatest, and healthy food is not (water is great though!). Sophomore Daniel P instead of watching what he eats, would like to gain weight by the end of this year and weigh over 70kg. This doesn’t seem too hard to me because everyone loves to eat right? However, there are people like Sophomores Prerna K and Sam J who don’t want to make a resolution because Prerna knows that “it will end up being forgotten” and Sam “can’t be bothered.”

Your New Year’s Resolutions really depends on the kind of person you are and how many you make depends on the same reason. If you are pretty responsible and adventurous and decide to make a resolution, it will probably tend to be challenging and take effort. If you are more like me, adventurous but also lazy, if a resolution is made, it probably won’t be too hard. But if you’d like to see how to keep a resolution, I suggest looking at Marco L’s article on pulling through on New Year’s Resolutions.
