Over the summer, the library underwent some significant changes. Along with the addition of a new club, STEAM (see Tanya’s article), in the library, other modifications have been made to the appearance of the space. In past years, students weren’t allowed to bring food or drink into library. However this year, part of the library has been renovated into a public area which allows AISG HS students to eat freely. Raven Hipolito, a junior, enjoys eating in the “comfortable” food area that makes her feel “more free”, and not having to worry about the librarians catching her eat. Another junior, Chris Kim,comments, “I no longer have to sneak food in! This place is made for me and my friends.”
The school librarian, Ms. Navis, originally got this idea a few years ago when the current seniors did a math project on rearranging the library. The discussion of having an eating area in the library came up, and Ms. Navis thought, “It would be really nice to have food in the library.” Ms. Navis affirms that students will no longer have to “sneak food in,” unless they’re planning to eat in other parts of the library (don’t do it!). Although it took a few years to set up the new eating space, students are finally able to eat and socialize with their friends in this newly renovated area.
