Paris Hilton is back on our radar! With the help of the famous singer, Demi Lovato, her sister Nicky Hilton, and close friends such as Kim Kardashian, the socialite is serving a variety of dishes inspired by her favorite foods and themes relating to her luxurious life on her new Netflix show, “Cooking with Paris.”
“Cooking with Paris,” oddly enough, is extremely enthralling and makes simple recipes captivating to watch. Every episode shows Hilton shopping for food and ingredients and prepping some of it by herself before a star guest comes along to help her with both the cooking and then the eating. From grocery shopping to vegetable chopping, the entire process is done while wearing over-the-top outfits that aren’t even remotely appropriate outfits for cooking.
Critics are taking issue with the star as the host of a show about cooking, with many on the internet mocking her poor culinary skills and are wondering why she doesn’t include recipes.
Viewers have commented on how they enjoy how offensively extravagant everything is while also being oddly adorable. Christine L., a freshman at AISG, stated, “I really enjoyed this show a lot! I’m honestly not sure how real it all is but it’s honestly hilarious to see her not really know anything about simple kitchen utensils.”
Hilton’s bedazzled self is so over the top, it may as well be a cartoon itself, with the sparkles and the feathers and the constant wave of pink outfits.
However, the downside of all of this is that fans feel that the show, “Cooking with Paris” is a step back for the star. Many have seen the hidden side of her in her documentary, “This is Paris”, which aired September 14th, 2020, which talks about the alleged abuse she had suffered in the boarding school she attended in her youth, and her determination to ensure that others do not have to go through what she did. As of now, Hilton has turned back to her Barbie-like personality, with her high-pitched voice and gloves covered in diamonds.
This television series is as sweet as cotton candy, with extra sprinkles on top. And in times like these, with the ongoing global pandemic, no one should be judged for enjoying it. Global situations may be difficult right now, but at least we have Paris.
