Prom Coming Up!

May 19th is only 39 days away! Meaning that prom is coming up! This year’s theme is The Premiere and will be held at the Mandarin Oriental. This is the first prom in a while where it will be held on a Saturday. Many people have been preparing for prom since the first email was sent out and AISG’s Prom Dresses 2018 group chat has seen some really beautiful dresses so far!

It’s been a big deal for seniors, in general, to look good for prom as it’s their final and most important school dance or event. Therefore, it’s only logical for them to put in a lot of effort to look their best for this special event which is the main reason why there is this prom dress group chat at AISG; to make sure everyone looks different and special in their own way. It is believed that proms originated as early as the 19th century, but there has been lots of attention towards it nowadays, especially in the 21st century.

Even though prom is one of the most important and recognized school events worldwide, it means something different in public schools than it does in private schools. In many cases, prom in the United States is the big night and has to do with serious couples, PDA, and it’s mostly dedicated for couples to be around other couples while dancing. Here, and in many international schools, people could go with their significant other, but also a group of friends (or alone). It is a time to have fun, and get closer to people you didn’t know very well before. However, it isn’t as big of a deal than it is in public schools in the United States even though it’s an important moment of every senior’s high school career.

This prom will be one to remember, so make sure you stand out!
