On September 25, volunteers of the community service Rams Reception went on a tour around the city. The student volunteers, along with other teachers Ms. Wang and Ms. Hong, worked as tour guides for the new members of AISG.
Rams Reception is a community service group that aims at helping new students and teachers adapt to their life in Guangzhou.
Members of Rams Reception introduced the cultural and historical sites of Guangzhou. The members visited the Archaeological Site Museum of Nan Yue Palace (南岳王宫博物馆) and Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall (中山纪念堂).
Both students and the teachers learned a brief history of Guangzhou and its importance to China. Following with the geographical features that shape the city today.
“Even though I lived in Guangzhou for a long time, I did not know much about the historical sites of this city. From the trip, I learned a lot of new things about Chinese culture and history. Overall I enjoyed the trip.” said Savyasachi S., a senior.
After the trip, students of the community service were satisfied that they have accomplished their goals in assisting others to adapt to the new environment as well as improving their social skills.
