On the 21st of April, at International Day, held at Ersha Campus, Connect4Cancer (C4C) will be holding their 8th annual Pantene Beautiful Lengths (PBL) event. PBL is a part of the P&G Pantene Hair Care brand, and the company has been supporting this event at AISG for the past few years. It has always been a very popular event throughout the school with Elementary, Middle, and High school students, as well as teachers and parents, all contributing to the cause. In this event, participants can volunteer to donate their hair to the Beautiful Lengths cause which makes wigs for cancer patients. When you donate, you will receive a Pantene Beautiful Lengths T-Shirt and some hair care products.

You have to donate at least 8 inches (about 20cm) of hair, however, the good news is that you can donate any type of hair, whether curly, straight, blonde, brown, black or any other natural colors. However, permanently dyed, bleached, or any other chemically treated hair, as well as more than 5% grey hair cannot be donated. Sorry! This is to ensure that all hair that is donated is actually used to make wigs and that when the hair is processed together and re-dyed, it will absorb dyes at the same speed and fade slowly.

You do not have to donate at International Day, and can also do so after prom or at your convenience. Visit the PBL website for details to tell your hair stylist to prepare the hair for donation, then please pass the hair to Mrs. Navis at the SP Library.

Nevertheless, if you can’t donate but still want to support a good cause, C4C will be selling T-Shirts supporting the event, and you could buy one. All money raised will go to the C4C charity project, Children’s Hope Foundation, which is provides housing and medication for Guangdong families unable to finance cancer care and treatment for their children.

Please consider donating your hair by completing the survey here or sign-up on the sheets posted around the ES, MS, and HS to volunteer. Be a part of supporting this great cause!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Prerna K (08kanjip), Sophia M (08moraism), Leyla S (o8farhatl), Alison L (08lianga), or Mrs. Navis (dknavis).
