Germany is one of the countries in Europe of to take in a massive number of migrants escaping wars and deprivation in the Middle East, Africa and Asia: the number may exceed 1 million by the end of this year. The policy to receive such a large number of migrants was first granted in August by the prime minister Angela Merkel, who wanted to help these refugees by granting them asylum. But as the number of immigrants increases and the people are finding them hard to accommodate, some ministers wish to limit the number of people they bring into the country.
One example is inferior minister de Maiziere, a man who disagreed on the decision to not exit the Euro zone after its great economic crisis this summer. He decided to create efforts to stem the refugee flow. Many people started supporting his claim and de Maiziere made the claim that “Avalanches can be caused if a careless skier … sets some snow on the move.” This quote shows his concern that this problem can lead to a bigger problem, but it wasn’t certain whether the quote was meant to be mock Merkel, disagreeing with her on her decision to take on refugees without limit. In this time period of great assault by other ministers, it would be extremely important for Merkel to show her great leadership and decision making skills, which she exhibited for the past 10 years, and obtain acceptance from the citizens on her decision.
