Extra curricular events are starting to kick off as school progresses into the second month. Our excellent athletes have started training in volleyball, tennis, and cross country while our outstanding artists are starting dance and choir. Choir has always been a popular choice for an extracurricular activity for many talented singers around the school. However, many beginners in the field also developed their passion for singing through our community choir.
Jennifer G, a member of APAC Choir since last year, decided to tryout again this year. When asked the motivation for joining, she noted her passion for singing since young and how APAC Choir was “always a place for [her] to enjoy [herself] fully.” She’s not only looking forward to learning new pieces and singing techniques, but also meeting new and old friends and being in the great community. Jennifer occasionally encountered challenges such as hitting a certain note or staying in a certain rhythm. However, the team overcame challenges as a group and she felt as if she was in “a big family.”
Open rehearsals for everyone occurred every lunch last week while auditions will take place in the following week on September 3 (Monday), 4 (Tuesday), and 5 (Wednesday) during lunch. The official APAC Choir team will consist of 16 members–8 girls and 8 boys, whom will embark on their APAC journey to TCIS (Taejon Christian International School) from November 14 to 18.
Many students may want to join but are participating in Season 1 sports–no worries, Mr. Bott, the vocal coach, addressed the dilemma by offering an opportunity for athletes to negotiate alternative practice times.
We hope to see many gifted singers at auditions and best of luck to all of you!
