Playlist of the Month – September 2017

This playlist was compiled in collaboration by Sophie Morais and Prerna Kanji.

• If you like this, try: “Ritual” by Wrabel
• Why we like it: Praying is different than Kesha’s previous music with a deeper meaning that makes the listener reflect on what they are hearing.

• If you like this, try: “She’s On My Mind” by JP Cooper
• Why we like it: Only You has a unique soulful vibe to it which makes the lyrics that much more powerful.

• If you like this, try: “The Other” by Lauv
• Why we like it: It’s a song that makes you feel because the lyrics are deep and emotional.

• If you like this, try: “Habits of My Heart” by Jaymes Young
• Why we like it: It has an upbeat, fun feel; perfect for the summer!

• Artist: Sam Feldt ft. Dante Klein and Milow
• Genre: Dance/Electronic

• If you like this, try: “The Good” Part by AJR
• Why we like it: This song has an amazing beat drop and such a good chorus.

7. Think Before I Talk

• If you like this, try: “Words” by Daya
• Why we like it: It’s completely different to Astrid’s usual music with an acoustic guitar rather than electronic sounds.

• If you like this, try: “Unsweet” by DNCE
• Why we like it: This song was outrageously different to the sweet Taylor Swift we all know and love. It’s bold, it’s bright, but we don’t quite love it.

• If you like this, try: “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift
• Why we like it: Um… well… it’s an interesting song. However, it’s a song you either love or hate. We don’t like it.

• If you like this, try: “Silence” by Marshmello, Khalid
• Why we like it: It isn’t necessarily easy to understand what Adam Levine is saying, and there isn’t exactly a beat drop, but it’s fun to dance to.

11. Why Don’t You Come On

• Genre: Pop
• Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐
• If you like this, try: “Rich Love” by OneRepublic, Seeb
• Why we like it: Why Don’t You Come On is great because it’s similar to most of Khalid’s other work but there is a beat drop and it’s really fun to dance to and jam along to.

12. Too Good At Goodbyes

• If you like this, try this: Stay With Me – Sam Smith
• Why we like it: I think I can speak for everyone by saying we are so happy that Sam Smith came back. His vocals in this are amazing and it gives us chills.

13. Out Loud

• Genre: Pop
• Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
• If you like this, try: “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson
• Why we like it: It shows that The Gabbie Show can do everything! This song shows everyone how incredible and talented she is and it’s such a catchy song.

14. Let Me Go

• Artist: Hailee Steinfeld, Alesso, Florida Georgia Line & Watt
• Genre: Pop
• Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
• If you like this, try: “Oceans Away” by ARIZONA
• Why we like it: It has a gripping hook at the start of the song and a beat drop with a great catchy tune

15. Hands

• Artist: The Vamps, Mike Perry, Sabrina Carpenter
• Genre: Pop
• Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
• If you like this, try: “Love On Me” by Galantis, ROZES
• Why we like it: It starts off slow but as soon as the beat drops, it’s so catchy, and the mixture of vocal ranges makes the song even better.

16. Dusk Till Dawn – Radio Edit

• Artist: Zayn and Sia
• Genre: Pop
• Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
• If you like this, try: “Let’s Hurt Tonight” by OneRepublic
• Why we like it: These two artists have incredible voices, and when they’re in the same song, it’s even better. You will be hooked and not want to listen to anything else.
