Soccer APAC Preview

APAC competitions are coming up in 2 weeks for the boys and girls varsity soccer teams. The girls will be off to TCIS (Taejeon Christian International School), while the boys will stay at AISG as we’re hosting.

Sophomore, Paoping Y. stated, “I’m really excited for APAC because we have been working really hard. Although this is my second year playing for girls varsity, I still get butterflies in my stomach when APAC approaches.” All athletes look forward to APAC since it is the final and main tournament of the season. Also, it gives players the chance to show the improvements they have made over the season. They have been working extremely hard; staying after-school four days a week.

Last year, the boys traveled to Shanghai for APAC. The boys played well, but luck was not on their side. Due to a few unfortunate events they ended up at fifth place out of six teams. Despite their placement, this was AISG’s best performance at APAC soccer. Girls APAC Soccer was held in Korea at SFS (Seoul Foreign School) and they placed 4th out of 6 teams. At the day, our athletes tried their best to reach their goals.

Sadly, both girls and boys team lost several players last year as many students graduated or moved; however, this has not slowed them down. Senior and captain of the boys soccer varsity team, Danny K., stated that “last year, [they] had an experienced team as the majority of the team had played in varsity since their freshmen year. [They now] have a young team, but [they] have a lot of potential.” Danny K. is extremely excited to see how the team performs in APAC because they have been working really hard.

APAC will take place from April 11 to 13, which is the first week back from spring break. Show some school spirit and come cheer the boys and girls varsity team! Live streams for girls can be found on the official APAC website.
