This school year’s Spring Spirit Week took place from March 15 to March 19 and featured many exciting spirit days such as Fan Day, Mismatch Day, Crazy Hair Day, Pajama Day, and Rainbow Day.

Crazy Hair Day

Crazy Hair Day on Wednesday included a nice surprise from the student council, which came in the form of free, non-permanent hair dye. Students flocked to the school’s main entrance to slap on a raincoat and a fresh layer of bright hair dye. The dyes could be easily sprayed on and came in a variety of colors such as blue, purple, pink, and silver. The dye was also extremely soluble in water and didn’t stain any clothing or hair.

A unique aspect of this year’s Spirit Week was that it coincided with Upstander Day, a new event where students and teacher alike were asked to wear orange in order to raise awareness of standing up to bullying. Homeroom teachers also handed out orange bracelets with the words “Upstander” printed on them. Some students commented on the irony of Upstander Month, since it seemed to be condensed all into one day.

Rainbow Day

A new addition to our school’s spirit week was Rainbow Day, which was implemented in order to unite students and teachers through the colors of the rainbow. Rainbow Day was easily the most successful day of Spirit Week as students were given colored headbands that were worn in the most versatile fashions. Throughout the whole day, students could be seen excitedly showing one another their styled headband; some students even cut into their headbands to make balaclavas and ninja hoods.

Overall, this year’s Spirit Week was one of the most successful ever and contained high levels of engagement from both students and teachers.
