Stranger Things Just Got Stranger

The show we’ve been waiting so long for is back! And so is our favorite number (fake fan if you didn’t get the reference). The show got a 96% rating for the first season, but the new season has a 94%. The shows are around the same length as they were in the first season, ranging from 40-60 minutes per episode. There is also one more episode than there was in season one, totaling nine episodes.

The Netflix original series is one of the most popular TV shows right now, and there are several AISG students who have already finished the second season. Senior Elly A is one of those students and says that she “enjoys it because it speaks more of Eleven’s backstory and [she likes] it more than season one.”

Episode 1 is titled MADMAX, and unlike opening of season 1 with the four boys, it starts with a robbery. The episode instantly grabs the viewer’s attention, because it answers a question we were all asking in season 1… is 011 alone?

The character that I’ve mentioned quite a bit in this article—Eleven (who also goes by “El”)—is known for her bravery, intelligence, and loyalty. Fans of the series call her “the feminist hero we need” and think of her as a beloved young girl who is a true icon.

Stranger Things is a worldwide phenomenon, and it isn’t hard to see why. It appeals to teens because they’re around the age of some of the kids starring in it, or enjoy the middle school characters because they remember themselves at that age not too long ago. But it also takes place in the 1980’s, so it’s not only intended for teenagers—adults who were kids at the time during which the show is set really enjoy the richly detailed sets and countless allusions to 1980’s TV, film, and culture. The basic storyline of the show involves a boy who is abducted by a monster into a parallel universe. Afterwards, three friends, their families, the police, and a new girl, who is a bit of a freak, try to get him back. There is a bit of romance, but that isn’t what the show focuses on. It’s a great story about the evolution of friendship and perseverance. If you ask me, this show is a must-watch.
