To focus further on healthy diets, fresh ingredients, and a better learning experience, AISG decided to bring in a small green environment to our community which is to create a new garden. Having a garden at school can be new to many people, especially to people like us who live in a city.
According to Mr. Tragert who is in charge of organizing this project thought by growing different plants and using the area as one of our learning environment can help people to be aware of taking care of our world and notice the importance of life. The garden bed and dirt have already arrived boosting up the excitement of starting the new project. The Sodexo people who make food for AISG brought up with this idea. One of the things they wanted to do was to create a space to get some ingredients, put it in lunches and generally promote healthy eating and sustainability.
Mr. Tragert said, “We thought this was an awesome idea! Actually, the garden can be used for both growing foods and flowering. It can also provide a learning environment for teachers and students. I also want teachers to decide on how they are going to use the garden. Mr. Madden said he can be weaving in some units, Mr. Magarity wanted a worm farm in there, groups of health class can learn about healthy eating and so on. Hopefully, this will be meaningful to a lot of people.” There are many enthralling ideas about the garden and this project seems to be not only a new experience but also a courageous tryout.
