Prom took place on Saturday, May 20 at the Mandarin Oriental Ballroom on the 2M floor. The event theme was The Phantom Masquerade, guests were expected to wear ball attire with masks to complement their looks.

Prom began at 6:30 p.m. and ended at 9:30 p.m., the event started with guests mingling and enjoying the food and drinks, then the lights of the room changed to colour-changing lights and music began playing. Students and teachers joined the dance floor to dance to a variety of upbeat and slow songs.

One student said, “I thought prom was very memorable, especially considering it was my last prom of high school. I thought there was some great entertainment, including the Photo Booth, lucky draw, and dance floor. My favourite part of prom was dancing and chatting with my friends in our fancy outfits.” Gwynnie G., a senior.

Another student said, “I went to prom because I thought it was a good opportunity for me to have a break from school and hang out with my friends. I also went to create memories with the graduating seniors. I think prom was interesting as it was my first time seeing people in formal clothing with makeup. My favourite part of prom was taking photos with my friends in the photo booth because I was able to get a physical copy of the photos and I will certainly keep these forever.” Euna J., a sophomore.

During the event, the Prom King and Queen were announced, as well as the Best Dressed and Best Promposal. There were also a few student performances near the end of the night.

Anthony W. and Amy L. were announced the Prom King and Queen, they shared a dance and a kiss and received crowns. Senior couples were nominated for Prom King and Queen which was then decided by all senior votes.

Students wore lavish short and long dresses and tuxedos, and at the end of the night the Best Dressed was announced – Richard W. and Sydney T., both seniors of AISG.

The upcoming weeks to prom were filled with promposals from couples and friends, but the Best Promposal was given to Alex M. and Arielle L., both sophomores. The promposal took place this week, Alex M. and his friends made t-shirts with letters on them spelling out prom once they stood next to each other, the t-shirts were accompanied by a Little Mermaid-themed poster and music.

At the entrance of the event room, the hosts from Pulse greeted students and teachers on their arrival. The entrance of the room had a photo backdrop for guests to take pictures.

The event had a constant food service, with sushi, wraps, pasta, and many more savory and sweet foods. There were drink stations near the entrance of the room, with different sodas and also a coffee and tea station.

A special camera that printed out photos in a photo booth style was popular amongst students and teachers alike. Guests took four photos then the printer would print out all the photos together, many guests took lots of photos to commemorate the night.
