With the musical being a little over one month away, the directors and cast members are working hard to make this year’s musical perfect and the best in AISG history. I was able to interview Santiago Villar and Mr. Boyd to ask them a few questions about how the musical is coming along and what to expect from their performance of The Addams Family at the Xinghai Concert Hall on December 2nd and 3rd.
The actors and cast have all been working very hard to perfect their roles. Santiago Villar, a junior and leading actor, said that, “so far, the best part of rehearsal has been working with different people from different grades. Even though we don’t go to the same classes or even have the same friends, we all enjoy working and interacting with each other.” Mr. Boyd, who is in charge of the cast, said that “the students have had really great attitudes this year which makes things easier for everyone. It can get pretty stressful, but it’s always best to respond to that with laughter.”
One question I had Boyd was whether or not they are on track. Boyd said, “we always feel fine at this point, but in another few weeks we will end up feeling behind. But things are going according to plan. Just have to keep the show moving forward. Always forward.” It sounds like this year’s musical is going to be filled with plenty of surprises and laughter as Mr. Boyd said that “this is one of the funniest scripts [he has] ever worked with.” Boyd continued, “we laughed a lot even during the first read-through. Also, it’s a well known property with great characters. So, I think we should get an amazing reaction.”
If you want a fun night with a lot of laughter, be sure to mark December 2nd and 3rd on your calendar and come out to support your fellow classmates.
