How Trump’s Campaign Reacted to Joe Biden’s Victory in the 2020 US Presidential Election

• Bookmarks: 562024

Vice President Joe Biden won the 2020 US Presidential Election after the Associated Press declared him the winner in Pennsylvania on November 7, 2020. Less than a few moments later, Donald Trump alleged that Joe Biden had fraudulently fabricated the ballots of the Presidential Election, that numerous lawsuits were to be correspondingly conducted against the newly elected president, and that the recounting of votes must and will be instigated by Trump and his coterie of Republican advisors.

Less than half an hour after the announcement declaring Joe Biden’s victory, Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s attorney, testified that the Philadelphian electoral system that had been instrumental in Biden’s triumph in the presidential election was an act of deceit. However, many of his campaign’s lawsuits were disapproved and not taken into deep consideration or action.

However, a significant portion of the Republican state raised the point that Trump’s current legal proceedings including the decision to petition for the recounting of ballots, were gratuitous. Even Republican state officials like Scott Walker and The First Lady, Melania Trump, remarked that a recount was uncalled for and that even if votes were to be re-conductedthe results may not modify the number of electoral votes drastically and insisted for him to abdicate in favor of Joe Biden

“It truly instills fear and distrust in the voters,” proclaimed Mr. McCarthy, a High School English teacher at AISG. “Trump’s decisions and conducts only contribute to the growing distrust in voters for America’s democratic government. It was unnecessary for the former president to have taken the initiative to officially negate the counting of votes, even after many of his republican advisors also admitted to the thought that what he was currently perpetuating was unmerited.”

Though Karen R., a freshman at AISG, admitted that she was not so familiar with the U.S.’s system for the presidential elections, she too believed that President Donald Trump was ignoring to accept his defeat and the standards of morality, especially taking such precautions as president and a prominent leader of a nation

“Personally, I think Trump’s attempt to sue Biden’s states should not be put to earnest consideration,” said Betty R., a sophomore at AISG. She also added that the recounting of votes was unnecessary and a large waste of time.”

Trump’s campaign has adopted a multitude of lawsuits in November, the majority of these legal disputes aimed towards ceasing the further counting of votes in states where the totaling of ballots is still being conducted. Furthermore, Trump’s campaign has also claimed to take further action by recounting ballots in states like Wisconsin and Georgia. Lawsuits will be obligatory for President Donald Trump as candidates are legally required to conduct litigations when wishing to request for an additional recount of votes.

Trump’s term officially terminates in January 2021. He reports that if he is “defeated” by Joe Biden, he intends to run for president for a second term in 2024. What are your thoughts on Trump’s filing of lawsuits? Comment down below!
