On March 9 and 10, AISG hosted tri-cities badminton at the badminton center near our school. Other than our very own Rams, Shanghai American School Pudong (SASPD), Western Academy Beijing (WAB) and Clifford International School (CIS) all competed in the tournament.
AISG had an overall ranking of 4th place while freshman Marco L. brought back 2nd place for AISG in the boys singles. Though he lost 21-5 and 21-9, he believes that it was a great learning experience. Junior Nina Y. came in 4th place for girls singles.
Although this wasn’t AISG’s strongest year, captain Michelle Z. said valuable lessons were learnt from this experience. “We were too optimistic and even though that is a good thing, we also have to be realistic. We can’t underestimate the other schools and judge their performance [based] on how they did last year.”
Right now, the team is training intensely for APAC, which will take place next month. Let’s encourage our rams to bring back 1st place!
