Another Trump Criticism? This time it’s abortion!

Abortion has been a controversial issue in the US politics that existed starting from a long time ago, even with the fact that abortion was legalized 40 years ago by the Supreme Court. Ever since abortion was legalized in the year of 1973, numerous attempts has been taken to restrict abortion in society, and some states have taken actions to pass laws that restrict abortion. However, politicians take a careful attempt to talk about abortion since it can cause controversial issues, but that wasn’t the case for Donald Trump, who is famous for his remarks on Mexican immigrants and Islamic state militants.

The Republican presidential front-runner, Donald Trump, famous for his extreme negative opinions on various social topics, such as illegal immigrants or Islamic states using nuclear weapon this time targeting abortion. On Wednesday, Trump attended the interview with MSNBC broadcast as part of his campaign rally located in De Pere, Wisconsin. During this interview, Trump was talking about how he would select judges if he became president, and started talking about his personal though on abortion, stating that, “The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb”, accusing full blame on women for causing abortion.

Trump’s negative opinion on abortion was widely spread after MSNBC released a clip of an interview with Trump and created severe opinions and tensions from his opposition as well as his supporters. Ted Cruz, the third-Republican candidate, stated that Trump was not careful on this issue of abortion and expressed: “What’s far too often neglected is that being pro-life is not simply about the unborn child, it’s also about the mother”. However, Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, expressed her different views on Trump’s statement about abortion, stating on an interview with MSNBC that she understands the Republicans having negative views on abortion, but believes that what Trump said was dangerous and outrageous and once again showed what kind of ‘a person’ Trump truly is.

After experiencing various backlashes from women and various parties, upsetting many women such as Hillary Clinton and further on, Trump started to moderate his opinion on abortion, stating that This issue is unclear and should be put back into the states for determination,”. He also took his opinion further backwards from his original statement, stating that doctors, not the women, should be responsible for abortion. No one knows what controversy Trump’s statement would bring, but it definitely wouldn’t be in the favor for Trump in receiving more support from the citizens.
