What We Know About The Highly-Anticipated Harry Potter Reunion

• Bookmarks: 431336

A “Harry Potter” special reunion, dubbed “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts,” will premiere on HBO Max on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2022. This highly-anticipated reunion celebrates the 20th anniversary of the premiere of the first film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

While detailed information of the special reunion has not been enormously explicit, HBO Max has stated that the special will “tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations.” For fans that hope to binge-watch the original “Harry Potter” films, all eight are currently streaming on HBO Max.

In addition, the special is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in London with executive producer Casey Patterson.

As for the guest stars, the actors/actresses that played Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), and Ronald Weasley (Rupert Grint) have all agreed to return for the reunion special. Even more excitingly, members of the iconic cast spanning from all eight movies will make appearances, including but (hopefully) not limited to Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch and Ian Hart. While filmmaker Chris Colombus is noted to be on the reunion special, fans have noticed the intriguing absence of the “Harry Potter” creator and author, J.K Rowling. Many speculate that the absence is due to Rowling’s controversial anti-trans comments and public online dispute with actor Daniel Radcliffe; however, this information has yet to be confirmed.

“I’m so excited for the Harry Potter Reunion!” said Vikisha G., a senior. “I hope to see the golden trio reunited because it’s been too long. Hopefully, they don’t replace them in a remake because it just wouldn’t be the same. I’m most excited to see Emma Watson return because Hermione has always been my favorite character.”

Another student, junior Sharon C. shared her thoughts on the reunion. “I watched Harry Potter in middle school and I’ve always been a fan. I look forward to seeing the reunion special after it launches.”

Make sure to watch the reunion special on January 1 and welcome back the iconic cast.
