From April to September in Guangzhou, it is rainy season, meaning that monsoons are expected regularly. In addition, it is generally quite hot and humid coupled with poor air quality during this time of the year. But, after Tuesday’s torrential downpour, the city of Guangzhou has been rewarded with beautiful weather thus far. The air quality has been in the green, indicating that it is good, and the temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius.
A few journalists and I walked around the school to interview fellow students, some teachers, and the workers. From the people we interviewed, all the responses regarding the weather were positive.
While some people find it hard to believe how nice the weather is, others were very happy to share their perspectives on the recent weather in Guangzhou. Mr. Navis described the weather as “absolutely perfect” while commenting on the temperature being just right, not too hot or too cold. When I asked Mr. Bazinet what he thought about the weather he responded, “The weather is very beautiful and I haven’t seen a blue sky for so long. I can’t believe it’s Guangzhou”. The weather even prompted Sam to comment “with the courtyard and palm trees it looks like we’re in California”. She even acknowledged this weather as the “best kind of weather” and openly wished that some of her classes could be held outside. Whether it is because people are able to see the blue skies and sun, inhale fresh air, or feel a breeze to keep cool, the comfortable weather has many students and teachers feeling refreshed and eager to finish out the school year.
