Greeting the Winter: Winter Social 2019

Pulse hosted a Winter Social on November 22 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Unlike previous years, the executive members of Pulse decided to rebrand the Winter Formal, which existed up until 3 years ago, to the Winter Social this year. The purpose to this event was to strengthen relationships between members of the AISG community and provide students an opportunity to relax and have fun with their friends. There were two major options for both students and teacher chaperones during the event: an open gym for athletic activities such as basketball, volleyball, and indoor soccer; and MP4 games and “Quiz Bowl” held in the health room.

Rahul S., a junior who went to the Winter Social and had fun, mentions that it was a successful event, as the “open gym was a good idea because we don’t always get access to the gym freely” and it provided an opportunity to play games in the gym. He also thinks that the “MP4 and board games were really considerate because it offered another option for people who are not interested in athletic games.”

The diverse activities provided in the Winter Social entertained and satisfied different groups of students. The coordinator of Pulse, Bonny C. also agrees that Winter Social is the most successful event held by Pulse in this semester so far, with “everybody [being] engaged and actively [participating] in the event.”

Another highlight of the night was the mini talent show towards the end. “There were some really impressive performances and audiences responded enthusiastically, the atmosphere was really good,” comments Bonny C. As a coordinator, Bonny also thinks they could improve on “marketing and letting more students know about the event.”

Overall, Winter Social was a success, as people who went to the event went back home satisfied and gratified with the diverse games and activities provided by Pulse.
